New to me huge Firminy cast steel anvil dated 1904 of weight 290kg (640lbs). Also making a 150kg (330lbs) reinforced concrete base to stand the anvil on, secured with just construction adhesive rated for impacts and flexible that grabs to both concrete and steel. Another benefit of the concrete stand I forgot to mention is that the footprint of the base is not wider than the anvil. So one can stay closer to the working surface, unlike with my other anvil stand that is much wider, specially at the floor, an require the blacksmith to lean over the anvil more. I think it’s more comfortable this way! I also forgot to show I welded tiny nails at the bottom of the steel structure so it would stay in place and properly spaced from the bottom of the cube when pouring the concrete.
