The chain vise is commonly used to hold pipes or irregularly shaped objects. Main advantage over a regular pipe vise is the large clamping surface limited only by the length of the chain. This particular chain vise is patented and features a cross slide with no apparent functionality. What was this used for? As of now none know. I’ve research the patent number without success…
